This project involved creating a new kitchen/living room in the rear garden of a Victorian villa style house in Dublin. The concept focused on maintaining views of the garden and its trees from within the main house. A courtyard was created between the house and the extension, connecting them together and giving a sense of light and space. The roof of the extension was sloped to allow views of the trees and sky. A palette of warm materials was chosen including softwood, ivory coloured render and ceramic tile. The roof of the extension was covered in sedum; a low maintenance succulent plant which changes colours with the seasons.
